Talon Weatherblok XT Pail 16lb
Designed for extreme weatherability, Talon® controls rodents with a single feeding. With the active ingredient, Brodifacoum, Talon® is perfect for controlling and eliminating rats and mice. It also contains weather-resistant wax blocks with grooved edges for more gnawing area.
Talon® vs. Contrac® - Which to Use?
Both Contrac® and Talon® are extremely effective rodenticides. The food ingredients in the respective products are different. Rodents can become bait averse (they will no longer feed on the food attractants in a particular bait). Rotating baits periodically is a strategy to avoid bait aversion and resistance to the active ingredient (if a different class of rodenticide is used).
Talon® is a 2nd generation single feed anticoagulant that uses the active ingredient Brodifacoum. In a 16 lb. pail there are 366 .7 ounce blocks. If completely consumed an ounce block can kill between 20-100 mice and 6-20 rats. The use rate per bait station is 5-22 blocks.
The active in Talon® is more toxic than the active in Contrac.® Smaller blocks kill more rodents.
Contrac® is a 2nd generation single-feed anticoagulant that uses the active ingredient Bromadiolone. In an 18 lb. pail there are 288, 1 ounce blocks. If completely consumed an ounce block can kill between 14-28 mice and 4-14 rats. The use rate per bait station is 3-16 blocks.
Talon® vs. Final® - Which to Use?
There is not a large difference between the two products.
Final® and Talon® use different food products. The active ingredient and block size are the same.
